Internship Employment Permit

Internship Employment Permits are designed to facilitate employment in the State of foreign nationals who are full-time students, enrolled in a third level institution outside of Ireland, in order to gain practical work experience.

Internship Employment Permit

Either the non-EEA national or employer can apply for an Internship Employment Permit.  A certified copy is sent to both the non-EEA national and employer.

Internship Employment Permits can only be issued for a maximum of 12 months and are not eligible for renewal.

A new employment permit for a different employer cannot be considered if the permit holder has completed less than 12 months of employment in the State. However, the non-EEA national permit holder can apply for either a General Employment Permit or Critical Skills Employment Permit during the 12-month period.
